Estë was a lady of the Valar, the spouse of Irmo, who dwelt with him in the gardens of Lórien in Valinor. She was known in Sindarin as Îdh and in Nandorin as Eord. She was often called "The Gentle". She was the healer of hurts and weariness. All things could be healed in Aman and in this was Estë the most skilled. With her handmaids she took care of the hurts, of both mind and body, of all who came to Aman. It was she who was appointed to heal the wounds of Frodo and Bilbo and of those who sought her out.

Her dress is grey and her gift is to heal the wounds and bring relieve for the tortured mind. Estë do not walk around during the day but sleeps in the shadows at the shores of an isle in the dark lake Lorellin in Lòrien. There, upon the isle, her fountains brings refreshment to the peoples of Valinor.
